A Reminder

March 19, 2014, Home, Josue L. Pierre

This photo was taken exactly at midnight of March 19, 2014. This was taken in my room. The photo shows the kind of condition that my room is. I see pile of cloths on the wall. There is also a pile of cloths on two chairs. I see a drawer with a bunch ball caps on top of books. I see one pair of sneakers on the floor. I see a blanket on the right bottom corner of the photo. The reason why this picture was taken was because the lighting of the significant to me and the clothing takes up most of my room due to the fact that the room is small. The lamp was on in the room was pointing at the direction of the clothing. The lighting towards the clothing made me realize that I had to clean the room and make it neat as soon as possible.

Hi Class,

1. Make sure to post (or re-post) two photos and descriptions…if you have not done so already.

2. Complete the Paragraph Structure handout and bring to class.

3. Print out the 5 Conclusions handout (under “Readings” in menu) and write an invented or hypothetical conclusion using one of the five strategies (100 words); be prepared to read it out loud in class.

Best,

Gray Dove

Gray Dove

This photo was taken by me Brianna Fajardo, Around 10 in the morning, in front of my old apartment, in Ozone Park between 84th Street and 102nd Avenue . The angle in which my camera was pointed to while taking this photo was upwards. As shown in my picture the sky is a very clear blue, where very few small white clouds are visible. To the left of the shot some branches of a tree with no leaves on them can be seen . There are three black electrical chords that run through the branches of the tree horizontally across. One one of these electrical chords sits a gray dove, appearing to be staring at something far away.

I took this picture simply because I love these kinds of birds. Although I do not see them too often, when i see these birds, I always see a pair, but strangely, this time I had only seen one, by itself. I Feel as if this characteristic gives the picture a lonesome, melancholic feel .

The Reflection Of Light

wisam2

I took this photo in march, 2009 when i visited the mosque of prophet muhammad (PBUH). To me this photo means a lot because i tooked it in the must important place to every muslim i can take this photo as a nice memory because every muslim should visite Macca at least once in there lifes and its a mandatory as well. The lights of the mosques draw a very effective show. Light reflected on the floor as peoples walking, lighting is the biggest contributor to light and dark, to colors, and to shapes and lines. So thats exactly what attracted me to take a photo of this create place and unforgatable.

Gandhi at Union Square

Gandhi at Union Square

I took this photo of gandhi in the early afternoon at Union Square park. His statue pose is set up as if he was in mid-walk in the middle of a small portion of grass and flowers. What attracts me to the image is how diverse the setting is in terms of what time it seems to represent from the mix of old historical buildings and new modern buildings because it reminds us what we were able to do with architechture since New York began growing as a city and how architecture has changed and become more modern with sleek glass and less bordering of the windows. The building to the right of the statue is where I work and every morning when I go to work, Gandhi’s statue serves as a reminder that Gandhi wanted to implement peace and serenity to the world and that he only made the world a better place. Integrating modern and old fashioned culture into our city helps us keep in mind how far we have come into developing a city and how far we can go.

City Tech in the making

City Tech in the making

I took this photo as I was walking to school and heard noise coming from the construction going on across the street and i wanted to go check out what was under construction. It seems  very obsolete and empty since what was there before was buldozed down and nothing was being built yet. Although its not the most beautiful landscape, it is a development that gives people anticipation to what will rise from it. The contrast from the billboard and the sky brings out the vastness of the sky and the open space which sometimes is difficult to capture at any time in New York. What impulsed me most to take this picture was its eventual value. Many people like to picture what New York was like before a certain time and this photo will serve as an archive that people will be able to look back on when theyre sitting inside what is in the process of being constructed.

My Intellectual Home

Intellectual Home

This photo was taken last year while I was studying for my regent’s exam. This porch is where I do my studying, relaxing, and deep thinking about my life, past, and future. It is where I run away when I need to breathe or under stress about something. This porch has curtains, couches, and my hookah. There is a big fruit tree in front of me and a bird tree so it’s peaceful. There’s three fire sticks as well to keep the mosquitos away and for light. It’s the best place that’s a part of the house for privacy. Keeps me at ease.

Broadway Junction Graffiti

Broadway Junction Graffiti This photo was taken at broadway junction. The graffiti has a rich blend of colors,to the top right it says “R.I.P LOUIS”,so im guessing the graffiti  artist dedicated this art to louis. Its clearly daytime,i can see the elevated train tracks, barbed wires and trees without leaves. to the bottom left of the photograph has, what i think is the name of the graffiti artist, ‘4SAKIN BISHOP’.i like this photograph because of the way the colors blend together making the art really cool, the reality effect of the photograph is not so high because,it looks like it could have been easily edited or altered, the dominant impression has a vibrant or colorful feel to it.

Six Flags

wisam

I tooked this picture in september, 2011 in six flags. This beautiful show grab my eye from a distance so i decieded to take a photo and keep it as a memory. This photo tells me a lot i tooked it exactly in muslims holday (Eid). I love this show because of  its strong structure which makes my eyes to caught. this photo is really unquie because  i  will be able to defocus my eyes and look at this image from a hundred feet away because its very attractive and its very colorfull. This beautiful flowers gives a strong underlying design to the image. Also the sun helps the eye starts to wander around and see what is there to see.

A life changing Experience

a701f9ab-955b-45d9-8960-4039f17b7111

I took this photo when my grandfather had passed away from cancer. I was wearing a hijab out of respect during the funeral because it’s mandatory. I had my face turned because of my puffy red eyes, tears, and mascara running down my face. The grass was moist when I ran my fingers through it. This day was a life changing experience because it was a day where I had felt like I lost everything I had. The day I decided to wear the hijab. I took it off after two weeks because I didn’t feel myself in it. One thing i can say is it got me closer to my family and religion.

Dreary

photo 2

I took this photograph at a Brooklyn intersection near City Tech. I titled this photo Dreary for its lack of color and uniqueness. A black and white filter was applied to this photograph. The light shining between the two buildings where this photo was taken was produced by the sunset. The buildings in the photograph, which look alike, blocks most of the light illuminating through the streets where I was posted. The mood in the photo is dull enough to send chills ti the viewer; a photo that is able to communicate the power of darkness to overshadow light.
