OpenLab Assignment 3: Take a break

You have no assignment this weekend, except to work on some of the homework problems from Sec 6.2 Volumes (these will not be collected).

Extra credit.  Tell me what’s in heavy rotation on you iPod right now.  I’m listening to The Devil Makes Three (“punk-a** country trio”) and Aesop Rock (“inaccessible hiphop intelligentsia”).  A few ground rules:  No offensive lyrics, be considerate of others, feel free to include a link but only to a legal site such as YouTube.

  18. mendozak says:

I don’t use an iPod. I use a HiFiMan and rip all of my music from CDs or .wav files in .Flac. I also don’t listen to singles as much as I wed myself to an album or few albums at a time. Right now, my main three albums are:

Justice – AUDIO, VIDEO, DISCO – 80s stadium-rock inspired electro-house anthems, they’re like Daft Punk’s unruly younger brothers who don’t give a damn about form or protocol with production

Lana Del Rey – Born To Die – orchestral chords tickle fat hip-hop beats while the “gangsta Nancy Sinatra” songstress sings about not letting go of a young deceased lover. The album was inspired by Thomas Newman’s film score for “American Beauty.”

Lady GaGa – Born This Way – sledgehammering aggro-disco beats under infectious pop melodies; she takes evident vocal cues from an early Bruce Sptingsteen and Whitney Houston.

I’m also currently obsessed with the song Nightcall by electro-house artist, Kavinsky. It was co-produced by Daft Punk’s Guy-Manuel De Homem-Christo and mixed by electronic artist SebastiAn. It features Brazilian lead singer of CSS, Lovefoxxx, on vocals. So it’s a synth-trance mastermix of electronic artists.

I am now listening to the song ‘SACRIFICE’ by Elton John. it’s one of my favourite song.
    It’s a human sign
    When things go wrong
    when the scent of her
    lingers
    And temptations strong
    Into the boundary
    Of each married man
    Sweet deceit comes
    Calling And negatively lands
    Cold cold heart
    Hard done by you
    Some things look
    better baby
    just passing through
    And its no sacrifice
    Just a simple word
    Its two hearts living
    In two seperate worlds
    But its no sacrifice
    No sacrifice
