Social Justice Paper

social justice paper. Simone

These are the topics that I settled on writing my social justice paper.

  1. Feminism: The Sexual Revolution’s Effects on Women
  2. Body Image: The Media’s Impact on Male Body Image and Self Esteem
  3. Rape: The Sexualization of Girls and Male Sexual Violence

This essay was overall easy to write once my thoughts were down on the paper but the researching and taking notes was strenuous and tiring. My first task involved finding sources that were interesting and that i felt comfortable discussing in this paper. The second and most time consuming task was reading and rereading through articles and finally the last step which was putting the words on paper and editing. The only issue I had with this paper was not being able to get into a clear state of thinking from the start while writing. I debated with the topic I would want to write about in my issue paper but I finally decided after considering the impact of the topic to talk about rape: the sexualization of girls and male sexual violence. The only thing I could say I wanted to do differently in general was to manage my time for the essay better so I had a clear line of focus to move the writing along faster.

Here is a list of all the sources I used in my paper:

I really enjoyed your paper! I think everything was compacted and straight to the point. I like that you decided to talk about the sexualization of women and girls. It is true. A lot of what is put in the media about young women are nothing but descrating images. Women are sometimes treated as an entity, a non-human being or even an object. With these racy images, how can people see the value and worth in someone that has basically been dehumanized? This is not an excuse for me to act on their sexually violent urges, but the media definitely has a lot to do with why anyone would think this is okay (aside from that person having mental issues).
