”When we began online classes mid-semester, the transition posed challenges to both instructional delivery and classroom community. As many students were not able to participate in live, synchronous class sessions, our class “met” asynchronously online to discuss the remaining class texts, many of which concern freedom, mobility, space, and time — commodities highlighted in the era of coronavirus”. This quote means that the coronavirus caused them to have class online instead of in person which was very challenging for most people. This also proves that the transition wasn’t a very easy process but once students got the gist of online classes, for the most part everything went smooth after that. Because of covid 19 it caused severe quarantine which consists of distance from one another, not everyone is a hero at independent working or a visual learner. Everyone learns different some may enjoy going to school, most may enjoy staying home an rather do work in bed, others may have to see the work being done or explained multiple times in order to understand the lesson. This relates to my situation because when it comes to learning i dont do really good at visual learning , i have to either see the work being done or it needs to be explained to me multiples times. This was a difficult chapter for me especially because it was senior year but also because once school shut down and all the work has now been turned into online classes, i lost in interest. I can understand how the student feel but the only advice ill give them is to remember no matter how difficult online learning can be , never give-up .

Yet only if I remain attentive to its choices can I understand deeply. What this quote means is if you can can stay vigilant to your past word choices you can soon evolve in essay writing. Another reason I picked out this quote was because in the past I always used less information until my junior year to my senior year of Highschool.

In the article Defense Of The Classroom they go over the struggle of how college students have to navigate through the pandemic and their study’s. Even in through the pandemic some people still had hope that our education would still continue. With some experience of being transferred from online classes to hybrid classes I could understand the difficulty of the two. When I was in Highschool I had to manage a college now class with a full time schedule.

Everything that was discussed in the article was interesting enough to read because it made me feel the same way when I was in Highschool. As I was reading this article I was thinking about something my Economic teachers were telling me, which was how we should receive more time and effort when it came to assignments. The pandemic took a lot from us but its the fact that were putting in the effort to get back into our study’s.

Higher education does not simply concern lectures and exams but also what is learned in their interstices, at the times one might least expect a worldview to be altered. this paragraph meaningful Education is not reading or exam but how you learn in school to get theories and facts and ideas to apply what you learned in real life situation . Learning in class where the professor and the students develop a sense of trust with another. this trust can only be attained by person to person contact .There this level intimacy that just cannot develop in online setting . But some people enjoy learning online due to life situation , for me The education experience is truly about making human connection . Most student used to Go in learning class it all stop due to the pandemic and shut down all the campus . My first time Online Learning has been difficult for me I feel pressure to try ,hurry to finish and turn in all my homework on time most of my assignment are due at the same time and i lot of them are time consuming
sometime I found myself not interested in doing the assignment and I feel lazy I still do the assignment but i sometimes turning late It like I’ll do the homework whenever i feel doing .in Classroom I can focus more on my assignment ,work, and get engaged in the subject .When i am in class i feel prepared .Having a professor presence help me focus more .

“When we began online classes mid-semester, the transition posed challenges to both instructional delivery and classroom community. As many students were not able to participate in live, synchronous class sessions, our class “met” asynchronously online to discuss the remaining class texts, many of which concern freedom, mobility, space, and time — commodities highlighted in the era of coronavirus”
This quote explains that transitioning from in-person to online was something that some kids and some teachers were not prepaid for. Each student is different when it comes to school. Some kids enjoy learning in a group with physical contact with students and teachers, and some want the time by themselves. The majority of students enjoy being in person due to having a better connection with the teachers. Once Covid 19 hit and this whole world shut down, a global pandemic was the only thing anyone could talk about. Mask, Vaccines, safety, but what about mental issues? And physical touch? America and sent prepared for that conversation. This quote drew me to it because it’s something that I understand. The global pandemic was not easy for me, which is why I find this quote highly relatable. I had to alter things in my daily life to try and get the motivation to do work. I changed my space, painted my room, and rearranged my schedule to get through my two later years of high school.
Caroline expressed the navigation from in-person classes to online courses. She says the way she feels as a teacher. She said that she didn’t know that February would be her last interaction with the students in her classroom. “Little did I know that this would become a precious document of our shared time in the classroom.” Some people may not know when the world may change drastically, and that is why they say you should “live life to the fullest” or “take it all in at once.” As a teacher, students don’t understand that everyone has emotions. Caroline expresses that even though we went through this whole pandemic, she still uses that video she took to make her feel better when she needs some
    Reinsurance at times.

    1. “When we began online classes mid-semester, the transition posed challenges to both instructional delivery and classroom community”. This is saying that when we started doing our education remotely it was a bit of struggle to be able to learn in a whole new other way. I was drawn to this because it was a major change for me to get used to whole new change of environment of learning. It was difficult the first couple days, but it was something that I had to adjust real quick because college doesn’t wait for anyone, professors give you like 2 days max to get adjusted.

In Caroline Hellman article ” In Defense of the classroom” (2020), the author talks about the change within learning and be in class then learning remotely. The environment is so much different. In class you are more social more interactive with classmates and with professors. While with online your just only seeing other people screen to screen. Which to some it isn’t fun.

The ideas in the article was good because I remember the first year in college it was vibrant, I was able to interact with people made friends, but after that first semester I took a long break from school, and so when I decided to come back everything was through online. School felt different wasn’t as fun as being in person, no interactions no nothing. But at the same time online worked good for me because transportation to get to school was a killer, I would get late to school even if I left my home early.

In the article, “In defense of the classroom: Understanding the kind of learning that only takes place in person,” the author maintains that ” Distance learning begets distance, and exacerbates issues of access and equity. In fact, year in and year out, CUNY students leap hurdles that many would find overwhelming: working full-time, caring and providing for families in New York and across the globe. It is not clear that more students would be able to participate in synchronous, remote class sessions even outside the context of an emergency.” This quote from the article mostly explains that students are having trouble adapting to online learning, for the particular reason for the circumstance are students having to deal with their personal problems such as mental health, family problems, and etc. One the reasons why this causes these type of issues is because such as adapting to the new learning environment, which leads to more problems for students because it is new to them. The reason on why I chose this quote because I had similar issues relating to this quote, and dealing with the problems I had at the time were not easy to deal with.

In Caroline Hellman article entitled “In Defense of the Classroom”, the author talks about her perspective as a teacher how the pandemic affected her teaching environment and education. Caroline believes that learning can only be taught properly in person and remote learning makes it difficult for students to learn and for her to teach. Throughout the article, Caroline talks about how she is already adapted to the in person teaching environment but due to the pandemic, she has to teach her classes through remote learning which only created issues for students to participate in live classes. Caroline discusses in the article about the struggles of students adapting to this new learning environment because students had to deal with their own set of problems which make students don’t have the time to join live sessions which makes it hard for students to learn.

In my opinion, this article was interesting to read about because it can relate to students that were or are still struggling about the remote learning experience. To me personally, I was also having problems with remote learning because I had to deal with school and personal problems I was dealing with at the time which lead to stress also.

1.In the article “In defense of the classroom” the author says that “As many students were not able to participate in live, synchronous class sessions, our class “met” asynchronously online to discuss the remaining class texts, many of which concern freedom, mobility, space, and time — commodities highlighted in the era of coronavirus.” This quote means that during covid 19 times, it was hard for most students to maintain themselves with online school because it was either too confusing or the student didn’t have access to technology at home.

    2. In the article “In defense of the classroom” the author shares her experience and shares how covid affected the way she normally likes to teach. The transition from in school to online was confusing to go through because it was so many new things students had to learn. Using google classroom, zoom, everything just felt so out of the natural. When it was my first time to switch to online schooling my mid junior year of high school it felt unwelcoming in a way that made me feel uncomfortable because I was always used to being in school learning from a classroom.

    3. The ideas in the article was good because as I was reading I was using imagery and picturing myself in the same moments I had and went through during my time switching from in school to online.

    1. “my job was to sit inside the dark theater with the patrons and make sure nothing went wrong.
It didn’t seem to matter to my supervisor that I had no training in security and no idea where we
kept the fire extinguishers.” this quote is describing the writer’s job and what his duties are. It
also shows what kind of things are lacking like for this case the supervisor was lacking in his
position to show him proper safety measures and didn’t bother to show where is the fire
extinguisher. This is meaningful to me because in my job as a TLC driver requires a lot of
safety measures incase of a vehicle disabled or a vehicle accident. As in terms of supervision, it
requires you to be an experienced driver and know your way around the city. The writer was
using descriptive techniques to describe his job.

    2. This was published in May 2020 in the COVID-19 crisis. This article was mentioning how the
students were in a classroom and how adjusted they were until covid when everyone was in a
small space limited. This article is showing flashbacks to the in-person experience and how
Professor Hellman was describing everything hat happened before the closure of the college.

    3. My thought on this published article is that the use of flashback is really thoughtful since the
fact there were some things used to describe such as the environment experience and how it
was like before it was closed.

1). In the article , “In defense of the classroom: Understanding the kind of learning that only takes place in person”, it states , ” And yet, the classroom housed something very valuable, something that has been lost and mourned in the transition to online instruction.”This quote stood out to me because it is trying to portray the value in which a physical classroom holds. This quote reminds you of the importance of a physical classroom , and makes you realize just how much online learning has impacted students only over these past few months .

2). The Article , “In defense of the classroom: Understanding the kind of learning that only takes place in person” written by , Caroline Hellman is mainly about the impact that Covid-19 had on her ways of teaching . Both students and teachers had to get used to using things like zoom and other live conference apps. The article speaks on the challenges involved getting used to online learning , as well as the value of learning in a classroom environment.

3). I strongly agree with the article because I personally prefer a classroom environment
and i fell that the transition to online learning was challenging and took a while to get used to

  10. Denys0409

Done well, “the old model of everybody goes and sits in a classroom and the teacher is in front of that classroom and teaches that class,” is pretty wonderful.
Inside these walls, students receive (or should receive) the time and support for intellectual and personal development. The physical classroom, shared with a spectrum of folks with disparate nationalities, ethnicities, religions, gender identities and perspectives, offers an important education beyond mere curriculum.

Learning in a physical classroom is not just a regular lesson, you have the opportunity to experience and learn from others. In a classroom students are learning and come in contact with different nationalities, ethnicities, religions, gender identities and perspectives. People are getting to know each other, sharing their life experience, and telling stories that interact with each other. They begin being friends with others by helping each other. In online classes, you can’t experience that because people don’t have physical cooperation. Students can’t talk to each other as much, and cannot find common interests.
I was drawn to this quote because I experienced this situation in my life. It’s much easier to have in-person classes than online because you can have physical interactions with people. You have an opportunity to get to know people, if you are interested in your peers, you can ask about their life and become friends.
In the article “Defense of the Classroom,” I felt how many people suffered because of this pandemic. Students didn’t have the ability to have in-person conversations with other students. People wanted to come back to school because remote school and in-person are so different. In-person you interact with other people, in online classes you don’t have a similar experience.
The idea of the article is interesting because I experienced some of these things in myself. I like classes in person more than classes online because of the interactions I can experience. It’s a very big difference.

How To Read Like A Writer.

Reading isn’t simply a pleasure pastime; it’s also employed in a variety of ways that we have yet to discover in our daily lives. To read like a writer, one must be proficient in speech, sentence structure, transitions, audibility, and body language. To read like a writer, you must become one with the author’s mind or personality. Consider how an author speaks when presenting their masterpiece. You must cultivate an explosive mindset. Someone who thinks a lot and has a vivid imagination, both of which are important in tale creation. Someone who can bring a figure to life only via their imagination. These elements are critical to become a well-known author.

The setting of this story demonstrates the shortcomings of reading in a loud environment. Noisy in the sense that it might be both internal and external noise. It also demonstrates the degree of specific vocabulary in each sentence, making it distinctively robust. The protagonist of the narrative realizes he is reading the story exactly as the author wrote it. However, if you can grasp the primary concept of that specific line, it implies that not only was the book written in a noisy setting, but that the writer was also experiencing internal noise, such as tension or worry. “Page 3” delves deeper into the opening of an essay and how it is created using imagination and relative reasoning, either with a quotation or rhetorical question/answer. Making crucial decisions in narrative or essay writing without difficulties. As a student writer, you should investigate how an author constructs a piece. Reading can be created historically in the sense of being interested in the evolution of the primary concept or the author’s life, or it can be formed architecturally in terms of vocabulary, punctuation, or character development. As was said in “page 4”. Line 66 says, “Reading like an architect or reading like a carpenter”. Is it OK to consider the primary concept while writing a summary or reading a story? Both approaches should be examined, with the understanding that the summary will be produced by the primary concept of the tale, which connects to the thesis statement, and that reading a story will enhance one’s competence in essay writing.

    In Defense Of The Classroom

The author begins with a brief quotation from New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo, delivered on May 3rd, 2020. The writer then goes on to describe the difference in our thinking in relation to the present worldly circumstances, as well as the location of the occurrence. The author expresses her outrage at the governor’s comment regarding the epidemic.

When the author states, “The classroom contained something that has been lost and regretted in the online transition,” he is alluding to the vibrancy of in-person classes and other pleasurable aspects of education that have been wiped away by the pandemic outbreak. The author expresses her pain inside. People’s lives, according to the governor, are considered in his decision-making process. However, in order for such dreams to come true, some concrete things must be given up. However, it appears to have a significant influence on people’s living situations, making it more difficult to cope under these conditions. “Cuomo has proved to be an invaluable leader for the state of New York, and indeed, the nation, at a time when federal leadership has failed,” the author continues. It’s clear that the author isn’t pleased with the present state of affairs.

This essay was composed with the express intention of informing people about the greater good of humanity’s fight throughout this plague. The author conveys her mental discomfort about her current lifestyle, which, to be honest, is natural and should not be ridiculed. However, the governor enacted this regulation so that everyone in the state may be secure and live long lives regardless of how awful the living condition becomes, because we’re all in this together and should all be thankful to be alive, which was a vital element that the author failed to recognize selflessly.

1).”Distance learning begets distance, and exacerbates issues of access and equity“.What this quote means is that shifting to online learning has created a lot of issues for people throughout this pandemic. Technology has played a progressively vital role in learning over the years but not everybody has fast internet speeds or access to the internet which makes it difficult for students to participate in online activities.

2).In the article“In Defense of the Classroom” it talks about the transition to online learning and how it affected students, teachers, and the schools itself. Online learning was like a new nature to us we weren’t used to attending virtual classes, and handing in work online it was a tough process, but we got through it thanks to technology. These new changes took a while to get adjusted to with slow internet, changes in life circumstances , and zoom crashes.

Reading this article was interesting and, made me reminiscing on my last year of high school on all the the things I learned before leaving.
The pandemic might have changed the world
in a lot of ways but, that just had us find another way to go about our lives, and still find a way to continue our pursuit in learning.
