In this course students will work together in small design teams (designers, developers, modelers, storytellers) to concept, design & develop short game-based VR experiences in collaboration with a real world partner. Through hands-on projects, students produce visual, auditory, written, physical and integrated sequences using video, sound, music, text, animation, web, mobile, games & the internet of things.

This course introduces students to the field of industrial design. It provides a framework for the development of design methodology. Students will use computers to create visual features of forms, configurations, patterns, and ornaments involved in the product design. Students are required to utilize the knowledge they learned to produce various design projects. Interactive Sound for Games and Simulations

An introduction to interactive sound for games and simulation-based media. The technical skills and foundations covered apply to game audio, interactive music performance, and interactive media scores. Students learn to use game audio engines, sound computation basics, and open source and proprietary tools. Professional audio quality standards are emphasized, and aesthetic sensitivity for final product is developed. For final projects, students design and program a complete sound environment for a game scene or interactive simulation.

This course explores research and documentation for all media formats including text, images, sound, and multimedia. Students will explore information issues, especially in terms of their relevance today: how information is produced and organized in both traditional and emerging media, how information access is affected by political, economic and cultural factors, and the ethics of information use. Students will also acquire the practical skills of locating information sources in a variety of media and formats, critical evaluation of sources, and documentation and citation of traditional and emerging media and technologies. Students will apply what they learn to create and present research and documentation projects.
