In Long Island, the area that I live, many trees felt down and some of the house have been damaged. We had not have power and heat for six days. Many areas even did not have gas and warm water and some of the areas still don’t have those. People could not cook even they could not buy because the supermarkets were closed. They could not take shower or do the laundry. The cellphone was out of charge. The home is like a jail; dark, cold and quite.
Long island railroad and local buses stopped running. There was no gas on gas stations. People could not go anywhere for couple days.
Four days after storm, I tried to go to Manhattan. Long island railroad was running every one hour. It was so crowded that people could not get in the train. Many subway lines were out of service.
I know that it was a hard experience but we should be thankful that we are alive.
